St. Tammany Parish Development District

Chris Masingill has been the Chief Executive Officer for the St. Tammany Parish Development District (STPDD) since July 2018. Previously, Masingill served as the federal co-chairman of the Delta Regional Authority from 2010-2017. He was a U.S. Senate-confirmed presidential appointee. The DRA works to improve regional economic opportunity by helping to create jobs, build communities, and improve the lives of the 10 million people who reside in the 252 counties and parishes of the eight-state Delta region. As federal co-chairman, Masingill answered to a board composed of the governors of the eight states. He has a proven track record of creating sustainable, collaborative partnerships with a variety of local, federal, and state agencies, as well as with business and community leaders, legislators, and nonprofit organizations. As part of his plan to increase the DRA’s transparency, accountability, and program capacity, Masingill instituted a strategic and proactive communications program to increase stakeholder and public awareness of the DRA. For his leadership in advancing economic development initiatives in the Delta region, Masingill was presented the Federal Leadership in Economic Development Programs Award in 2015 by the International Economic Development Council (IEDC). Prior to leading the DRA, Masingill served the state of Arkansas as Governor Mike Beebe’s director of intergovernmental affairs and chief policy advisor for economic and community development. During that time, he was also tasked to serve as the Arkansas recovery implementation director for the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. His key areas of expertise include economic development; community revitalization and creative placemaking; small business development and entrepreneurship; workforce training and development; disaster recovery and resilience; public safety and law enforcement; and strategic organizational management and planning. Masingill holds a Bachelor of Science in Social Science with a minor in business administration from Texas Wesleyan University. He also holds professional designations for economic development, project management and emergency management and disaster preparedness. |

City of Slidell Update

Mayor Greg Cromer and his wife Peggy have lived in Slidell since 1982. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Management from Southeastern Louisiana University and a Masters in Business Administration from Louisiana State University. Greg and Peggy have two children, Nikki and Clay, and two grandchildren, Stephen and Orson Greg was employed for 27 years by Lockheed Martin, working on external fuel tanks for NASA’s Space Shuttle Program. He retired in 2009 as Safety and Product Assurance Liaison to the Production Operations division of the company and began working for Geocent, a multi-state corporation, as a Project Manager for the company’s work with NASA.
Long active in the community, Greg is a longtime member of the Slidell Noon Lions Club and a past board member of the St. Tammany Economic Development Foundation. In 2002, Greg won a seat on the Slidell City Council, a post to which he was reelected in 2006. He served as Council President during Hurricane Katrina and its aftermath, assuming responsibility for the City’s single shelter and overseeing distribution of relief supplies.
In 2007 he ran unopposed for Louisiana State Representative for District 90, which includes portions of Slidell and Pearl River, and was reelected to another four-year term by an overwhelming margin in the fall of 2011. He was again reelected without opposition in 2015.
As a State Representative, Greg humbly served in the Louisiana Legislature as the Chairman of the House Executive Committee and a House Member of Chamber. Greg has also served as Chairman of the House of Representatives Insurance Committee, which has oversight on legislation pertaining to public and private insurance systems including life, health, employment and property and casualty insurance. He also sat on the House Executive Committee, House and Joint Committee on Homeland Security, Special Committee on Military and Veterans Affairs and serves on the Energy Council. In 2018, Greg was elected at the 22nd Mayor of the City of Slidell, Louisiana. |

LA State Budget Update

John M. Schroder, Sr. was elected Louisiana State Treasurer on November 18, 2017. As Treasurer, he oversees more than $6 billion in investments and over $38 billion in cash flow. He also chairs the Louisiana State Bond Commission and returns millions of dollars in unclaimed property to Louisiana citizens. John was first elected to the Louisiana House of Representatives in 2007 to represent St. Tammany and Tangipahoa Parishes. John used his business sense while serving on the Appropriations and Joint Budget committees to focus on the need for structural changes in budgeting practices and capital outlay usage. After 10 years in the Legislature, he resigned his seat to run for State Treasurer. John believes Louisiana state government should live within its means and is an advocate for transparency at all levels of government. As Treasurer, he will continue to push for a streamlined budgeting process, capital outlay reform, and controlling the out of control growth of government. John is a graduate of East Jefferson High School, Southeastern Louisiana University, and a Veteran of the United States Army. He is a businessman, co-owner of a real estate company, and a residential developer. John has been married to Ellie Daigle Schroder for 33 years. |
