Slidell's Bayou Christmas was held at Slidell's Heritage Park and benefits the Slidell Unit of Boys & Girls Clubs of Louisiana. It took place over two weekends, beginning Thursday - Sunday, December 15-18 and again Thursday and Friday, December 22 and 23.

Club members Kenny Breaux and Mark Ricard assisted stringing lights on barricades around Heritage Park on Monday and Tuesday, December 13 and 14, volunteering about 6 hours each day for a total of 24 volunteer hours.  Mark volunteered another 6 hours on Wednesday, December 15 to finish up that project. Dede Ricard volunteered on two nights to assist with crowd control at the Santa picture-taking booth, for a total of 6 hours.

The event provided free kiddie rides, an "ice" skating rink, food vendors and free entertainment, in addition to the free photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus.  It was very well-attended by the community, despite the rainy weather!  However, the final evening had to be cancelled due to the inclement weather.
